FINAL FANTASY XVI feels like a Final Fantasy game that wants to trade bright adventure for something heavier, sharper, and more tragic. It is a story about power, loyalty, revenge, kingdoms, slavery, family wounds, and the terrible cost of living in a world where magic is treated as both a miracle and a resource. The tone is serious, sometimes grim, and often dramatic in a way that makes the game feel closer to a dark fantasy saga than a traditional colorful JRPG.
