A new fan-made mod called Stardew 3DVR has transformed Stardew Valley into a first-person virtual reality experience. The project allows players to explore Pelican Town in 3D while using physical hand movements for farming and other activities.
Players can swing tools, water crops, cast a fishing rod, and walk through the game world from a first-person perspective. A wrist-mounted menu also makes it possible to switch between the original 2D view, a walkable 3D mode, and full VR without changing save files.
The mod creates 3D geometry from the game’s existing 2D sprites in real time. Because it works with assets already loaded into the world, it is reportedly compatible with many other community modifications, including larger content overhauls and custom character packs.
Some limitations remain. Mods that completely remove the standard fishing minigame can still function, but projects that alter its interface may conflict with Stardew 3DVR because the VR menu was designed around the original version.
Stardew 3DVR was developed by GingasVR and is currently available through Nexus Mods. A separate project called The Third Dimension uses newly created assets instead, offering more detailed visuals at the cost of broader compatibility.
