Call of Duty fans hoping to see Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 arrive on Nintendo Switch may be disappointed. According to a reliable insider, there are currently no plans to release Nintendo Switch ports of the two classic Black Ops titles.

The update comes after months of rumors and speculation surrounding the return of Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 on modern PlayStation hardware. The games have now arrived on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, but these releases are straightforward ports rather than remasters or full remakes.

Because of that, many players have been wondering why Nintendo Switch versions were not included. The question has become even more noticeable with the Switch 2 now offering stronger hardware than the original console. Even so, no clear explanation has been given for why Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 are not being prepared for Nintendo’s platform.

CharlieIntel recently stated on X that Nintendo Switch ports of Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 are not currently planned. The report also says there are no new updates for Xbox or PC players, meaning the latest versions are limited to PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 for now.

The PlayStation ports include access to campaign, multiplayer, and zombies modes from the first two Black Ops games. They were developed in collaboration with Iron Galaxy, giving players a way to revisit two of the most recognizable entries in the Call of Duty series on newer PlayStation consoles.

However, the releases have also drawn criticism from some fans. Since these are ports of games that are more than a decade old, players expected more modern features or a lower price point. Instead, the games do not include major visual upgrades, 120 FPS support, an FOV slider, or bundled DLC content.

Additional DLC packs must be purchased separately, which has made the pricing feel less appealing to players who expected a more complete package. Some fans have also noted that the ports look very close to the original versions, making the lack of upgrades more noticeable.

Still, for players who want to replay the campaigns, return to classic multiplayer, or revisit zombies mode, the PlayStation ports offer a convenient way to experience Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 again without needing older hardware.

For Nintendo Switch players, though, the situation remains unchanged. Unless plans shift later, Black Ops 1 and Black Ops 2 are not expected to receive Switch ports, despite continued fan interest and the stronger capabilities of newer Nintendo hardware.
